How does Rilonacept Works?

February 27th, 2010 . by admin

When talking about the new drugs for gout that that is still undergoing clinical trials is known as the Rilonacept.  It is to be marketed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, under the name Arcalyst. It is primarily for those with active chronic gout and has been shown to be safe for this. The main action to this drug is that it deals with gout flare ups by lowering the uric acid levels in the blood. It was originally developed to treat a couple of very rare diseases. This drug is also a xanthine oxidase inhibitor, similar to another gout drug, allopurinol. This means it can be used in people who, for whatever reason, cannot tolerate allopurinol nor have too many side effects from it.
