We were faced with the decision of whether we should pick up our car in the north or the south island. We were flying to Wellington and then jumping on the ferry to the south. It made more sense to not have to worry about a vehicle on the ferry so we figured we would just get it from Rental car Picton. As it turned out, their office was right near the ferry terminal and we could easily walk to it once we got off the boat. Our next challenge was deciding whether to head west or east which was all part of our plan to not make any plans.
